Ellie's Story

Ellie Moore, in remission since 2019

Two months had gone by since I was told I had a mass on my lung. The process at my previous cancer center involved a lot of waiting and chemotherapy hadn’t even begun yet. With my prognosis, I felt this process needed to be moving much more quickly, which is why I found Dr. Philip Salem. I met with Dr. Salem on a Thursday, had scans taken Friday and started chemotherapy the following Monday morning.

When I started treatment with Dr. Salem eight years ago, the prognosis for stage four lung cancer was 10-12 months. I knew that I had to do everything I could to fight and Dr. Salem assured me that we would not give up. He used three different treatments: chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted therapy (ICT). If I ever experienced negative side-effects, Dr. Salem and his team were quick to provide medication or advice on how to relieve the issue.

Since I live in Houston, I was able to leave my office to receive treatment and could then return to work the same day!

Throughout my treatment, I knew that I had Dr. Salem and all his staff to lean on, and they were able to answer any questions I had. The team at Salem Oncology Center is always there for patients throughout their journey, and each staff member does everything in their power to make the process as painless as possible. They were by my side to laugh or cry with me and treated my family as their own. I’m incredibly thankful for their support. I have been in remission since 2019, thanks to Dr. Salem’s expertise and his willingness to create a personalized treatment plan for me.
